Remote Work

Virtual Leadership: Leading in the Virtual World

Currently, more and more employees in organizations are working remotely. This refers to collaborating with colleagues from a mobile workplace. This can be the home office or any workplace, sometimes even a hotel room.

More and more colleagues who work at the company location are involved in projects with employees who work purely remotely. And of course, there are also many external partners who work this way. In short: remote work, mobile work, or virtual collaboration—whatever you call it—is a completely normal part of our daily work.

Remote Work

New Competencies Are Needed

On the one hand, this is good; on the other hand, it also requires new competencies that we must learn:

  • How do we use the new online tools?
  • What are the ground rules for virtual collaboration?
  • What do I do with typical conflicts in the team, with colleagues, with employees, with my specialist, with external partners, when I no longer meet them in person?

…are questions that must be asked. You can prepare specifically for these situations and challenges.

Successfully Shaping Virtual Collaboration

A training program can focus on successfully shaping virtual collaboration. Possible questions could include:

  • How do I use the tools deployed by my organization effectively?
  • Which ground rules make online collaboration productive?
  • Which ground rules should I observe in online collaboration?
  • How can we integrate existing tools into online work?
  • How do meetings run when some employees participate remotely?
  • Which ground rules are necessary to collaborate well and productively without creating unnecessary conflicts?
  • Which overarching ground rules should I observe? (Email, chat, messenger, and online etiquette)
  • And how should I better organize my workday to be more productive remotely?

Virtual Leadership

Remote Work

Leadership is challenging enough; virtual leadership is significantly more complex. The following questions arise:

  • How do I lead my team when some team members work completely remotely, perhaps even myself?
  • Which team routines are important, which ground rules do we need to work successfully and productively despite infrequent face-to-face meetings?
  • Which typical leadership tasks are particularly unique and specific to virtual leadership?

All of this is covered in the Virtual Leadership program. Here you will gain the tools to lead your team competently and successfully in a virtual environment so that you achieve your team goals and organizational objectives.
