At the same time, there is a shortage of skilled workers\u2014and thus people who not only perform but <strong>want to learn and develop<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<!--more-->\n\n<p>Organizations that respond to these changes with outdated training concepts will fall behind. Because learning is far more than just courses or training. It is a strategic success factor. Or, as we say:    <\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Learning is the new operating system.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p>But what does learning look like that fits this new world of work? How do you create a learning culture that not only sounds good but actually works in everyday practice\u2014in projects, meetings, onboarding, and with the help of AI?  <\/p>\n\n<p>On <strong>May 8, 2025<\/strong>, <strong>Albrecht Kresse<\/strong> (Founder and Managing Director of the <strong>edutrainment company<\/strong>) delivered a presentation on precisely this topic at the <strong>MAWI Forum at Zeche Zollverein<\/strong>:<br\/><strong>&#8220;New Work \u2013 New Learning&#8221;<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p>His central message: <em>&#8220;New Work requires New Learning\u2014and it needs to happen now.&#8221;<\/em> <\/p>\n\n<p>Accompanying the presentation, he compiled a <strong>checklist with ten practical hacks<\/strong> that demonstrate how organizations can rethink learning today\u2014and truly embed it in everyday practice. <\/p>\n\n<p>In this article, we present three of these hacks in detail. The complete checklist is available for download at the end.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83c\udfaf<\/strong> Hack #1: Start with Why\u2014Learning Needs Purpose <\/h2>\n\n<p>If people don&#8217;t know why they should learn something, they won&#8217;t really do it. Sounds logical, but it&#8217;s often ignored in everyday practice. New processes? Mandatory training. New software? E-learning link. New leadership culture? PDF handbook.        <\/p>\n\n<p>And the question employees ask themselves:<br\/><strong>&#8220;What does this have to do with me?&#8221;<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p>A genuine &#8220;why&#8221; is missing\u2014and with it, motivation. This leads to one of the most common mistakes in corporate training: <strong>high effort, low impact<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd0d <strong>What helps:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Communicate the purpose of learning content on three levels: for the organization, the team, and the individual. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use storytelling, practical examples, and vision statements. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build the &#8220;why&#8221; visibly and emotionally into every learning format\u2014whether kick-off, video, or invitation to the learning platform. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>\ud83d\udcac A familiar (negative) example we all know:<br\/>The math teacher who, when asked &#8220;What do I need this for?&#8221; answers: &#8220;For your final exam.&#8221;<br\/>We all know: That&#8217;s not enough. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83e\udde0<\/strong> Hack #2: Promote Self-Directed Learning\u2014with Structure and System <\/h2>\n\n<p>In a world where knowledge changes rapidly, the ability to <strong>learn independently and continuously<\/strong> is crucial. But here too, there&#8217;s a misconception: Just because employees know YouTube or ChatGPT doesn&#8217;t make them good self-directed learners.  <\/p>\n\n<p>Because true self-learning competence means more: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Setting goals<\/strong>\u2014and not forgetting them after two days. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Evaluating information<\/strong>\u2014and distinguishing between quality content and half-truths. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Organizing yourself<\/strong>\u2014even alongside deadlines, meetings, and project stress. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>\ud83d\ude80 <strong>What organizations can do:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Systematically integrate self-directed learning\u2014e.g., through dedicated learning time in calendars or digital learning paths. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Actively teach methods like &#8220;learning how to learn,&#8221; for example, in brief self-learning modules. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t just approve AI tools\u2014explain them and integrate them into everyday work. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>\ud83c\udf93 Those who succeed in this not only promote learning competence\u2014but also self-efficacy. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\ud83c\udfaf<\/strong> Hack #3: Understand Your Audience\u2014Instead of Missing the Mark <\/h2>\n\n<p>Every learning offering is also a communication offering. And as in marketing: Only those who <strong>truly know their audience<\/strong> can design offerings that work.  <\/p>\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccc But what does that mean in practice? <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Which formats fit employees&#8217; everyday work? <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What language do they use? <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What learning habits and preferences do they bring with them? <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>\ud83d\udc42 <strong>The simplest approach:<\/strong> Ask!<br\/>Instead of developing formats in isolation, use feedback loops, learning style assessments, or brief surveys. The investment pays off twice: Your offerings will be better utilized\u2014and perceived as respectful.  <\/p>\n\n<p>\ud83d\udca1 Tip: Design learning offerings <strong>not for yourself<\/strong>\u2014but for people who are currently juggling Teams calls, project planning, and picking up their children.
